Vacation

Away at camp for a few days with feeble internet connection and no scanner, camera cords, graphics program, etc...BUT, I've got my paints with me! So will have something to show on my return...if all goes as planned and I don't get TOO relaxed (lazy.) See you soon...the loons are calling!

Rocky

This is our dog's best bud, Rocky. He's a sweet gentle Golden with the sea in his soul. Here he's snoozing contentedly on the beach at Cape Breton. This painting was a gift for my friend's recent birthday.

The Turner

Another painting in the One Hundred Hands series. This is my friend Peter, from Canada. He turns the most beautiful bowls! He ended up with this painting and I ended up with a gorgeous, one of a kind, curly maple bowl.

Unfolding

Another flower from the many in my mom's garden. This was today's musical inspiration. (To continue looking at the art while you listen, right click on the colored word 'this' and go to Open Link in New Tab.)

Inverted

I was happy to see last week's Daily Paintwork's Challenge from Cathleen Rehfeld. I've been itching to paint these bowls again...so flipped them over this time.
This was the music that got me going. And if you'd seen me trying to stack these up, you'd know how appropriate this musical selection is!  (To continue looking at the art while you listen, right click on the colored word 'this' and go to Open Link in New Tab.)

Remembrance

This one was a commission. In fact, it took off so fast from my house, I forgot to scan it before framing and wiring it. I did manage to shoot a quick photo...which is nice to actually see it in the gold frame.

The Risk to Bloom

I'm really enjoying all the blossoms of spring...and many more to come. I've always liked the quote by Anais Nin, "And the day came when the risk to remain in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to bloom."...thus the title. This was today's musical inspiration. Appropriate, don't you think? (To continue looking at the art while you listen, right click on the colored word 'this' and go to Open Link in New Tab.)

Boy Toy

I spent a beautiful day at the beach a couple of weeks ago. This little guy was intent on what he was doing. I love how kids can find anything and turn it into the most amusing toy. I don't know this boy, but his mom kindly gave me permission to snap a few photos. I'll post another painting of him with his sister tomorrow.

Loosey Goosey

A few years ago I visited my friend, Lin, who kept geese at the time. We were sitting on the grass enjoying watching the geese and I was happily snapping photos. Well, one of them took a 'liking' to me. It began by pecking at my shiny wedding ring. At first I was flattered but this soon progressed to the goose planting itself firmly in my lap and proceeding to get very friendly! This was a BIG goose! Luckily I was rescued by the family dog.
You know...sometimes you just like a red sky.

Just a fun little pear...because for me pears are always fun!

One Afternoon in Fall

A rare landscape. This is the partial view from my bedroom window. I love when the orange-y late afternoon light, heavy with atmosphere, glances over the trees.

E Pluribus Unum

More mushrooms from a while ago. This reminded me of the old Sesame Street segment called 'One of These Doesn't Belong'...remember that? I was pleased with the reflections.

Thought you might enjoy the process.

Hard to Get

I'm fortunate to live across from an awesome organic farm, Peacemeal Farm. Not only do we get the best fresh veggies, they also have critters sometimes. A couple of years ago they had a group of Nubian goats. I spent quite a bit of time with the young ones photographing and marveling. Remember the large blob of Burnt Umber I squeezed out to paint our chocolate lab a couple of weeks ago? (See this post) Well, the blob was still around, so I figured this goat would be the perfect subject to use it up. How wrong I was! Not a bit of brown anywhere on it...except the under painting.

Drenched

These tulips are from a lovely garden by the sea where I spent a thoroughly enjoyable day. I've never painted water droplets before and was a bit (ok...a LOT) intimidated by it. But I loved it!
